Day 52:
Listening to: Biggest Part of Me
Thought for the day: There is no faith which has never yet been broken, except that of a truly faithful dog. ~Konrad Lorenz
Pearl girl. The Fab Lab. My fablabulous best friend. She is nine-years old. For the most part, she acts her age. She’s docile, we walk slowly, and life is easy……………..that is until the Mail/UPS/FedEx man/woman makes an appearance. According to her, they are more evil than cats and justice must be preserved. She digs deep into her reserves, finds her puppy-hood, and then all hell breaks loose. I took this photo just prior to her yanking my arm out of my socket causing blood to spew unchecked.
I marvel at the relationship (or lack of) dogs have with these people. I asked my mailman one day why he thought it happened. His explanation was that dogs protect their territory and day-in /day-out the delivery people impede on a dog’s territory without acknowledged permission from their owners. It does make sense. I am constantly amazed thatPearlknows the sounds of their trucks and their smells. She knows when one has recently been on our property. Her nose will go immediately to the ground and her hair will stand erect. All I know is that as long as Pearl responds, I know she still has life left in her. I am dreading the day when the delivery peeps no longer irk her. It’s coming……………… but for now………….GIVE US SOME FAVA BEANS AND CHIANTI! Fffffffffff.
