Listening to: You and I (Rick James baby)
Thought for the day: If you can look at a dog and not feel vicarious excitement and affection, you must be a cat. ~Author Unknown
Meet Charlie. Back in October his mom (my neighbor) accepted a job working with wayward teens. Her job requires that she work several 14 hour days a week. When she told me about her job, I didn’t even hesitate. I offered to walk Charlie on her long work days. Today was one of my Charlie days. I mean, LOOK AT THAT FACE! How could I not offer?
Charlie is a hoot to walk. He zips around anxiously from bush to bush as if he’s going to miss that one jackpot bush that will yield doggie rewards if he hikes his leg on it. His one downfall is that he likes to eat cigarette butts and there happens to be a cigarette buffet in the park where we walk. Pearl, on the other hand, skips the cigarette buffet and goes straight for the cat poop section of the park like it’s the dessert bar. I’m not sure which is worse.
Walking both dogs today brought me a lot of joy. The air was chilly, but the sun was intense and the symphony of wind chimes intoxicating. Everyone was smiling including Charlie.
